TRANSFER CREDIT WARNING
CLASS OF 2024
Spring 2024 graduates who are completing course work at another institution for transfer to UMW must:
Complete the Request to Study at Another U.S. Institution form and submit it to the UMW Office of the Registrar, prior to enrolling at that institution. Spring 2024 graduation candidates who do not have approval to transfer credit are subject to being removed from the graduate list.
Submit an official transcript from the transfer institution to UMW with the final grade posted. The transcript must be received by UMW by Friday, May 10, 2024 at 5p.m. in order to graduate in the Spring 2024 term.
Summer 2023 graduates must have all transfer course work posted to their UMW transcript by Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 5p.m. in order to graduate in the Summer 2023 term.
Fall 2023 graduates must have all transfer course work posted to their UMW transcript by Tuesday, January 10, 2024 at 5p.m. in order to graduate in the Fall 2023 term.
Transfer credit reminders:
Your UMW degree requirements include three residency requirements:
- Overall credits: a minimum of 30 credits applied to your degree must be earned at UMW.
- Major credits: for BA/BS students, a minimum of half of the credits applied to the major must be earned at UMW; for BLS students, a minimum of 15 credits applied to the major must be earned at UMW.
- Final credits: a minimum of 15 of the final 21 credits applied to your degree must be earned at UMW.
