Use of Assistive Technology and Adaptive Equipment in Class
Students who are approved for an accommodation for the “Use of Assistive Technology and Adaptive Equipment in Class” may use a variety of tools to meet needs during class time, outside of exams and quizzes. These tools may include, but are not limited to laptops, tablets, smartphones, FM system, microphones, recording devices, and sunglasses. These tools may be used for a number of reasons for providing access such as taking notes, organizing class information, enlarging materials, accessing screen reading software, recording lectures, etc. ODR advises communicating with the student if there are questions related to how this accommodation may be implemented in each course. Students that need access to smart phones during an exam will have this explicitly stated on their accommodation letter. ODR is also available for consultation as needed.
