Behavior Policies

Joining an alternative break is a meaningful, exciting opportunity. It also involves a lot of responsibility. Please consider this and add important dates to your calendar before joining our program.
All participants in the UMW Alternative Service Break program must sign the Participant Agreement and commit to following all program policies and procedures. Your trip group will go over the Participant Agreement during your first team meeting. If you would like to see this before hand please reach out to our Trip Coordinator at kmorello@umw.edu
Participation in the ASB program is contingent upon abiding by these responsibilities and expectations. Participants who do not comply with these terms may be removed from an ASB team and returned home at their own expense.
Payment Policy
You can find the deposit deadline on our Paying for Your Trip page. If you miss this deadline, we will move to the next person on the waiting list.
A payment plan can be arranged for you if needed. Please reach out to Kasey Morello at kmorello@umw.edu as soon as you know you need this to set it up.
If you pay the $50.00 deposit but miss the final payment deadline without first contacting the Trip Coordinator or your Trip Leaders, we may give your spot to the next person on the waiting list. If your spot isn’t taken, your remaining payment will increase to $225.
We pay many of the trip expenses in advance. Because of this, we are usually not able to refund payments when a participant can no longer travel. Circumstances vary. The $50.00 deposit is non-refundable regardless of circumstances.
