Behavior Policies

Joining an alternative break is a meaningful, exciting opportunity. It also involves a lot of responsibility. Please consider this and add important dates to your calendar before joining our program.
All participants in the UMW Alternative Service Break program must sign the Participant Agreement and commit to following all program policies and procedures. The Participant Agreement will be reviewed during the first trip meeting. If you would like to see this before hand please reach out to our Trip Coordinator at kmorello@umw.edu
Participation in the ASB program is contingent upon abiding by these responsibilities and expectations. Non-compliance with these terms can result in being removed from an ASB team and being returned home at the participant’s own expense.
Payment Policy
If you miss the deposit deadline – this can be found on our Paying for Your Trip page – we will move to the next person on the waiting list.
If you are in need of a payment plan one can be arranged. Please reach out to Kasey Morello at kmorello@umw.edu as soon as you know you need this to set it up.
If you pay the $50.00 deposit but miss the remaining payment deadline without talking to the Trip Coordinator or your Trip Leaders, the remaining trip cost will be raised from $200.00 to $225.00
Many of the expenses for the trip are paid in advance. Because of this, we are usually not able to refund payments when a participant can no longer travel. Circumstances vary. The $50.00 deposit is non-refundable regardless of circumstances.
