Get Involved
The UMW Votes program supports our community members as we develop the skills, habits, and knowledge needed for a life of engaged citizenship. There are many ways to get involved on campus.
1. Help us educate student voters
We need your help to educate and register student voters! Join UMW Votes and learn more about helping student voters.
2. Become an intern at the Center for Community Engagement
The Voting Ambassadors are interns at the Center for Community Engagement who support UMW community members as they develop the skills, habits, and knowledge needed for a life of engaged citizenship. The internships are a great way to develop your leadership skills in civic engagement, and can provide up to three academic credits. Fill out an application form to apply for this position.
4. Support student voting on campus
UMW Votes hosts several events each year, including a celebration of National Voter Registration Day and Vote Early Day. Sign up to volunteer to help us with these events, or join the UMW Votes portal to learn about upcoming events and to pre-register for programs.
5. Register to vote

6. Volunteer to learn more about the Fredericksburg community
The Center for Community Engagement offers several volunteer programs that will help you learn more about the greater Fredericksburg area.
7. Serve as an Election Officer
Visit the webpage for the Fredericksburg Registrar’s office to learn more about becoming an Election Officer. Election Officers are paid to work at the polls on Election Day and help people with the voting process.
