Students participate in National Voter Registration Day

Learn about the Voting Process

The next National Voter Registration Day will be celebrated at University of Mary Washington on Wednesday Sept. 24th (rescheduled), 2025 in coordination with a national effort to help students build their civic identity and increase voter registration. National Voter Registration Day is a national tradition celebrating our democracy. UMW Votes invites community partners and members of local, regional, and national campaigns to have a table on campus walk and share information with our students. In addition, the student help register voters and provide information about upcoming elections, while providing free T-shirts with a positive voting message.

Every year, millions of Americans are unable to vote because of a missed registration deadline or other problems with their registration. Recognizing this challenge, National Voter Registration Day was created in 2012 as a single day of coordinated media and field events to help eligible voters get registered, or update their registration, ahead of state deadlines.
