- Curricular Innovation: Support interdisciplinary courses, new minors, and micro-credentials.
- Career Preparedness: Develop internship and project-based learning programs aligned with workforce needs.
- Public Engagement: Promote faculty and student-led community projects and events.
- Community Collaboration: Serve as a regional resource for civic engagement and cultural programming.
Program Spotlight: Food Studies Minor
Starting in Fall 2026, UMW will offer a food studies minor, one of the first in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This minor is possibly UMW’s most interdisciplinary program and includes courses from American Studies, Anthropology, Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, History, Marketing, and Modern Languages and Literatures. For more information, read the description on the Modern Languages and Literatures website.
