This course explores the multifaceted dimensions of leadership, including an in-depth examination of various leadership based on the extraordinary work and achievement of key corporate CEOs and their respective organizations. Students will analyze the importance of decision-making and the role perspective plays in effective leadership. Additionally, teams will examine well-known CEOs for their leadership style and the significant difference they made within their organizations. These current or former CEOs would include, among others: Lou Gerstner (IBM), John Chambers (Cisco), Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Michael Dell (Dell), Phebe Novakovic (General Dynamics), Julie Sweet (Accenture), Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan Chase), Michael Eisner (Disney), Bob Iger (Disney), Steve Jobs (Apple), Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Sam Walton (Walmart). Using discussions and technologies including AI and Coursera we will dig deeply into various dimensions of transformational leadership.

Mark Jacobson eared a MAS from The Johns Hopkins University and earned a Stonier Graduate School of Banking Diploma from the University of Delaware. He previously taught at The Johns Hopkins University and Towson University. In his third year at UMW, he is excited to have the opportunity to work with first-year students.
