Kassie Phillips (she/her)

Senior
Music and History Double Major, Education Program
Favorite type of consultation to work on: Brainstorming and outlining!
Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: You don’t need to have a completely finished paper to visit us! We can help with brainstorming and developing a thesis (because sometimes getting started is the hardest part), citations, etc.
Fun fact about yourself: I am an avid collector of recorders and I typically have one on my person at any given moment.

Cosette Veeder-Shave (he/her)

Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: It isn’t just for people struggling with writing! We help writers at all stages in the Writing Center 🙂
Fun fact about yourself: I can play several instruments, including violin, mandolin, guitar and banjo, among others.

Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: I wish people knew how much we do NOT take ourselves seriously! We just love what we do and hope that people aren’t afraid of us!

Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: I was nervous to come to the Writing Center when I was a freshman, but everybody is so nice that I ended up working here! It really is a judgment-free, comforting place, even over Zoom!
Fun fact about yourself: My family and I have two dogs, a cat, a bearded dragon, a tortoise, and 5 hermit crabs

Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: It’s always interesting to read what people write, from a learning perspective. We’re consulting to help people produce their best writing, but it’s always fun to learn from other students by reading their papers and talking with them.
Fun fact about yourself: I learned to knit during quarantine!

Rina Murasaki (she/her)

Favorite type of consultation to work on: Brainstorming or anything that has a back and forth of ideas and information!
Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: We all genuinely want to help more than anything else! So please don’t worry about asking questions or needing clarification!
Fun fact about yourself: If I could go hiking everyday of my life, I probably would 🙂

Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: The WC is a hidden gem! We’re still open for online consultations, though we miss seeing everyone in person.

Favorite type of consultation to work on: My favorite type of consultation to work on is outlining! I love helping people organize their great ideas and see how they can come together to make a cohesive paper!
Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: I want people to know that we can help with ALL types of writing–lab reports, creative fiction, historiographies, you name it!
Fun fact about yourself: A fun fact about me is that I did competitive speech and debate in high school!

My major is English with a concentration in Creative Writing, and my minor is Digital Studies.
Favorite type of consultation to work on: Brainstorming! I love pulling the ideas people have out of their brains and helping to shape it to fit their assignment.
Something you wish people knew about the Writing Center: We are not scary at all! There’s no pressure, and we’re happy to help.
Fun fact about yourself: I have three tattoos that I got in the time frame of around a month.
