Our Mission

COAR’s mission is to connect UMW and Fredericksburg through community service projects to enact change in our community and form lasting compassionate connections with the individuals who share this space with us. We do this work with love and hope.

Background

In 2020, in the wake of worldwide Black Lives Matter protests, COAR decided that it was time for us to update our mission statement. We want to emphasize our commitment to both UMW and the Fredericksburg community, and our solidarity with the incredible activists that we have the privilege to work with during our weekly programs and annual events. We are both proud and honored to present our new mission statement, and we hope that its message resonates with our volunteers and community partners alike.
