Launch of the Center for Community Engagement
As part of the launch of the UMW Center for Community Engagement, please join us on September 9th for a public talk by Dr. Andrew Seligsohn, who will be discussing community and civic engagement at UMW and other institutions of higher education, with a special focus on the role of faculty. Dr. Seligsohn is the president of Campus Compact, a national organization dedicated to advancing the public purposes of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility.
The title of Dr. Seligsohn’s talk is Learning, Partnerships, Opportunity: Higher Education’s Role in Strengthening Democracy.
Dr. Seligsohn’s talk will start at 4:00 and will be held in the University Center Chandler ballroom. Please join us afterwards for a reception from 5:00-6:00.
From 6:00 to 7:00, the Center for Community Engagement will have an open house in Suite 320.
For UMW Faculty and invited community partners, Dr. Seligsohn will be facilitating a workshop at 1:00 in the UC Colonnade Room.
