Covid Withdrawal

 

Students: please make sure to consider the consequences of how a withdrawal in a course(s) will impact academic issues such as your timeline to graduation, whether the course is fulfilling a graduation requirement before the withdrawal, calculating your GPA and academic standing, as well as financial aid.

 

 

 COVID-19 withdrawal policy for the Spring and Summer 2021 terms

  • After grades post, students may appeal to have any grade switched to a W as a result of a COVID-related issue.
  • Students can submit the appeal to Academic Services using the Academic Services Request Form and should attach documentation (detailed description, doctor’s note, etc.) supporting the appeal for a withdrawal based on circumstances related to COVID.
  • Appeals must be submitted from a student’s UMW email to advise@umw.edu on or before 5:00PM, June 2. No appeals will be accepted after the deadline.
  • If an appeal is approved, the Register’s Office will update the student’s transcript to reflect a W and credit will not be received for the course(s). Please make sure to check Banner to see your official grades and academic standing.
