Faculty Connecting with Faculty

Fall Faculty Reception

In the fall semester, CTE & I will host an informal reception for new faculty and the broader UMW community to meet with our newest community members. New faculty will be able to meet faculty outside of their departments and colleges to share teaching interests, scholarship, and network. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome!

Teaching Visits

This faculty partnership program provides faculty with the opportunity to learn from the experience and expertise of their colleagues and allows a small group/individual junior faculty to observe a colleague’s class (on a predetermined day). Participants follow-up the class visit with a post-class discussion allowing opportunities to open up the discussion on pedagogical topics, share teaching successes and challenges and speak about their own teaching journeys. Please click here to participate.

CTE & I offers to coordinate Teaching Visits. Click here if you would like to participate (as an observer or classroom host).

Open Dialogue Panel

Open Dialogue  offers faculty an opportunity to participant in a panel discussion and also come together to discuss emergent topics, broad questions, and teaching and learning pedagogy.  This opportunity provides a nice way for faculty to engage with the broader UMW community to share emergent scholarship and teaching pedagogy.

The panel will use an informal, discussion-based format provides a collegial environment for faculty to share teaching experiences, hear different perspectives and learn in the company of peers. Open Dialogue on Teaching will usually begin with opening remarks from panelists and then open up to the larger group.  Please click here to form an Open Dialogue Panel.

Faculty Writing Group

Need some time to write? This group may be just what you need to engage in scholarly writing over the course of the semester.  Faculty can work on articles, grant proposals, blogs, op-ed pieces, teaching statements or other scholarly writing in the company of peers.  This new initiative is designed to support and advance faculty writing through the formation of multi-disciplinary communities of writers to enhance  collegiality, exchange of ideas, and writing productivity. CTE & I will help organize groups and provide useful information related to scholarly writing.

Come join colleagues in a relaxed working space.  Please click here to register.
