ON-CAMPUS RECRUITING

On-campus recruiting allows employers to recruit students for internships and for full-time, professional positions. As a liberal arts institution with incredibly talented students, we encourage employers to utilize schedules open to all majors. We offer pre-screened or closed schedules upon request. At UMW we offer a streamlined process via EmpoyAnEagle, our Web-based interview scheduling system.

Interviews are generally scheduled in 30-minute intervals, allowing for up to 12 interviews in any one day. Our on-campus recruiting program is free and runs from September-November in the fall semester, and from February-April in the spring. We request that you contact the Recruiting Coordinator at casv@umw.edu or call 540/654-1022 as soon as possible prior to your preferred interview date, since our space is limited.

The Recruiting Coordinator can assist employers who wish to plan Information Sessions prior to interviews. These sessions can help familiarize students with your organization and positions for which you are recruiting. At the employer’s request, a room will be reserved for the presentation and arrangements made for any refreshments and audio-visual equipment requested.

CAREER FAIRS

Each year, the Office of Career Services sponsors career fairs. We start in the fall with Career Day held at the Fredericksburg campus. In the spring we hold our Employer Fair located at the Stafford campus. For more information on any of these events, review the link on the left entitled “Career Fair” or contact our office at 540/654-1022.

UNABLE TO VISIT CAMPUS?

DIRECT RESUME SUBMISSION

If you are unable to schedule a campus visit, but want to actively recruit our students, our web-based system allows you to schedule an online resume drop. Using this method, students are able to submit resumes directly to your organization. Those resumes are then either stored online or emailed directly to a contact person.

RESUME REFERRAL

Our goal is to connect you with UMW students, in the most convenient manner possible. Our web-based system allows employers to search, view and print resumes via the internet. You can access resumes in three different categories: General, Internship, and Security Clearance, depending upon your needs. For more information about this service, contact us at 540/654-1022

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION (CO-OP )

We run a small co-op program, which allows students to combine academics with paid, career-relevant work experience. Please contact Gary Johnson at gjohnson@umw.edu or 540/654-1022 for more information on co-op.
