For quick information about Reports on Advising (notes), see below:
- A student has the right to review any or all of his/her education record
- A Report on Advising (note) is part of the student’s education record and subject to FERPA unless the notes fall into the category of ‘sole possession.’ Sole possession are records kept in a file for the advisor’s own use as reference or memory aid and normally not shared with others
- Reports on Advising (notes) need to be factual, objective, and must avoid making value judgements or inappropriate language.
