Apply To Be a Tutor
Peer tutors serve as a resource to undergraduate UMW students. Most tutors work on a weekly to bi-weekly basis depending on the needs of their tutees. Tutors will also complete the specified number of trainings needed to gain certification per semester.
How to Apply to Be a Tutor:
- Sign up for Employ-An-Eagle (If you don’t already have an account)
- Go to the jobs tab and type in the keyword: Tutor (position id 1523)
- Follow the link in the job description to complete the application including uploading a copy of your current resume.
- Submit a copy of the Faculty Recommendation Form for each class you wish to tutor to Academic and Career Services
$7.80-$10.00 per hour
To be a tutor you must:
Be a current degree seeking UMW student
Minimum GPA 2.75, Preferred 3.0. Lower GPA’s will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Have previously received at least a B in the course you wish to tutor
Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Have a sincere desire to help and have a high degree of patience
Be willing to work with diverse group of tutees
Native language speakers can apply to tutor their language, but fluency will be verified before the position is offered.
The last day to apply to tutor for the Fall 2014 semester is Friday, September 12th.
