Apply To Be a Tutor
Peer tutors serve as a resource to undergraduate UMW students. Most tutors work on a weekly to bi-weekly basis depending on the needs of their tutees. Tutors will also complete the specified number of trainings per semester.

- Submit a copy of the Faculty Recommendation Form for each class you wish to tutor to Academic and Career Services
$7.80-$10.00 per hour
To be a tutor you must:
Be a current degree seeking UMW student
Minimum GPA 2.75, Preferred 3.0. Lower GPA’s will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Have previously received at least a B in the course you wish to tutor
Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Have a sincere desire to help and have a high degree of patience
Be willing to work with diverse group of tutees
Native language speakers can apply to tutor their language, but fluency will be verified before the position is offered.

SUMMER APPLICANTS: ACS does not employ tutors during the summer. If you are interested in offering private tutoring sessions, please email the subject/courses you can tutor and your contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your information will be provided to students, and you will be responsible for setting up sessions, payment, etc.
