THE Spring 2014 INTERNSHIP CONTRACT DEADLINE IS 1/31/14.
Internships provide an excellent opportunity to gain professional work experience and test out a career field of interest. As a student, you can develop or enhance your skill set and knowledge base, build a network of professional contacts, and learn how to manage the multitude of responsibilities that come with a career. On the flip side, your energy, enthusiasm, and creativity provide much needed assistance to organizations looking for the innovation and determination that only college students can provide. It is a “win-win” situation that is not only valued, but expected, in today’s competitive job market.
On this site, you will find lots of information on internships including the University’s policies and procedures, tips on how to be successful on the job, and some insight into what potential intern employers are looking for in candidates. Additionally, you will find several links to general internship search engines and specific organizations that have internship opportunities available for students.
The Office of Academic and Career Services is open Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to provide you with additional information and assistance. Please give us a call at 540-654-1022 or stop by Lee Hall room 308 to make an appointment. For quick and easy questions, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
